    Mrs. Shahida Parveen

    Deputy Commissioner

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has come a long way since its establishment in the year 1963, when 20 regimental schools run by Ministry of Defence were brought into central school scheme, under Ministry of Education for catering mainly to the education of children of defence employees and other transferable central Govt. Employees. At present there are 1087 Kendriya Vidyalayas spread across the country with more than 11 lakh children enrolled and around 56000 employees. Training and development is an integral part of the human resource development activity for an organization this size. Keeping this training need of the personnel in mind, KVS decided to establish its own Training Institute. Zonal Institute of Education and Training, Mumbai came into existence on 1stApril, 2003 as second training institute of KVS, after Gwalior. At present there are three other such institutes at Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh and Mysore. Technically training involves change in attitude, skills or knowledge of a person with the resultant improvement in the behaviour. For training to be effective, it has to be a planned, activities conducted after a thorough need analysis and target at certain competencies, most important, it is to be conducted in a learning atmosphere. The need for Training and Development The following are the two biggest factors that contribute to the increased need to training and development in organisations: Change: The word change encapsulates almost everything. It is one of the biggest factors that contribute to the need of training and development. There is in fact a direct relationship between the two. Change leads to the need for training and development and training and development leads to individual and organisational change, and the cycle goes on and on. More specifically it is the technology that is driving the need; changing the way how organisations function, compete and deliver. Development: It is again one of the strong reasons for training and development becoming all the more important. Money is not the sole motivator at work and this is especially very true for the 21st century. People who work with organisations seek more than just employment out of their work; they look at holistic development of self. Spirituality and self- awareness for example are gaining momentum world over. People seek happiness at jobs which may not be possible unless an individual is aware of the self. Warm regards. Mrs Shahida Parveen Deputy Commissioner KVS Bhopal Region

    Principal

Learning is a lifelong process and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pachmarhi envisages the all-round development of the children and caters to the needs of the students dwelling in the picturesque surroundings of Pachmarhi. Education is a joint venture and its attainment is a mutual undertaking in which Students, Teachers, parents and the Principal strive together hand in hand to translate this aim into reality. I feel proud to embark on a journey in which I would play a significant role in shaping the character of the future citizens of the country. In a fast changing world where change is probably only thing which is constant, it is high time we alter our approach towards teaching-learning process and foresee the students a co-learner and respect them for their individuality. Accommodating every individuality and respecting distinctiveness of every individual in the process of learning is the order of the day and as the Principal of the Vidyalaya, it would be my solemn duty to ensure the same is achieved through innovative practices, not only in the administrative procedures, but also in pedagogical approaches. Out of various stake holders, teachers, in all probability, play the most pivotal role in the overall development of the students’ personality. A teacher of calm temperament and disposition may prove to be an asset and I as the head of this Vidyalaya, would provide them congenial and conducive environment to work together as a team to bring best out the students and make them self-sufficient learners. Through multifarious activities, the latent talent of the students would be brought to the fore. Principal
